Snow was falling, so much like stars filling the dark trees that one could easily imagine its reason for being was nothing more than prettiness. -Mary Oliver
Happy winter solstice, everyone! I hope you’re all enjoying the “shortest day” or the “longest night”, whichever way you prefer to look at it. While I’ve always enjoyed the quiet, intimate solitude of night, the lack of sunshine certainly tends to effect me mentally. It’s all up from here, okay? Each day we start to get a little more day light, a little more serotonin. I took some time this winter to compose a winter-ish playlist to throw on every once in a while when I’m over all the Brenda Lee and Bing Crosby. What better day to share than on the winter solstice I figure. If you decide to have a listen, I hope you enjoy!
All my best until after the holidays! Stay warm, stay cool and kind.

Winter solstice, the earth open wide
With a heart crushed like footsteps in snow
Fictitious persons disclaimers implied
To all listening from rooftops below
It had rained and the air was like perfume outside
As the sky changed

apricity
(n.) the warmth of the sun in winter.
Origin: Latin

About this word: (and other wintery words)
“This word provides us with evidence that even if you come up with a really great word, and tell all of your friends that they should start using it, there is a very small chance that it will catch on. Apricity appears to have entered our language in 1623, when Henry Cockeram recorded (or possibly invented) it for his dictionary The English Dictionary; or, An Interpreter of Hard English Words. Despite the fact that it is a delightful word for a delightful thing it never quite caught on, and will not be found in any modern dictionary aside from the Oxford English Dictionary.”
Cool list! Lots to look into. Another lovely addition might by The Winter Song by Eisley. Sharing songs; better than Christmas cards! Because you likely won’t be looking at that card a year from now but that song might be in regular rotation in your Apple Music/Spotify playlist! Cheers!
Great list. I'm also recently fond of Noah Kahan's "stick Season"
